Dollar Theater is a Little TOO Second Run

I’ve become a bit frustrated with our “dollar theater” lately.  It seems that half of the movies they show anymore (maybe even more than half) are already out on DVD.  While I would prefer the big screen, there is still some aggravation that comes with going to the theater: parking, big heads in front of you, crowd noise, etc.  Not sure it outweighs home watching anymore, especially when it’s so cheap to get it from Redbox.  Here is what is currently showing:

“Wreck-It Ralph” has been there forever and “Rise of the Guardians” was out on DVD weeks ago as well.  I wouldn’t mind seeing “Side Effects”, but one showing at 10:10??  What is that all about?  And if I want to see “Jac the Giant Slayer” (not too enthused) and want to go around 7pm, I have to pony up for the 3-D glasses.  No thanks.  Disappointed.

Yeah, but it’s a DOLLAR. I would love to have seen Life of Pi in 3D in the theater, but I missed my chance due to travels. I’m sure that at home 3D just won’t be the same. Of course, movies here cost 25 bucks a ticket, and even more for 3D. That’s why I hardly go to the movies anymore. Also, the nearest theater (most accessible to my house anyway) shows everything overdubbed in French (because it’s in France, not Switzerland). In sum, I get your complaint, but I’m still very jealous.
